Revised Requirements for Mailing Mooncakes to New Zealand
As advised by New Zealand Post, mooncakes are restricted from being sent to New Zealand, while commercially manufactured mooncakes containing whole egg may be imported provided that all of the following requirements are met:
- The product is shelf-stable (A product is self-stable if: it has been commercially manufactured and packaged by the manufacturer; the package has not been opened or broken; it is able to be stored in the package at room or ambient temperature; it does not require refrigeration or freezing before the package is opened.)
- The product must not contain any meat or meat product fillings.
- The product:
- Is a private consignment which is imported as personal property and not for resale. The amount is limited to a maximum of 10 kg; or
- Is a commercial consignment accompanies by a manufacturer’s declaration stating that the product reached a core temperature greater than 60°C for no less than 3.5 minutes.
